Group, Gibbs and Cox Each of these authors has extensive experience in their respective area and long involvement with SNAME. Collectively, they provide an excellent introduction to and coverage of noise control, propulsion shafting systems and marine machinery vibration. The Editors chapter is a teaching and reference chapter on marine machinery vibration with a primary emphasis on propulsion shafting systems. Ray Fischers chapter on Sound and Noise Control is based upon a career involved in shipboard noise control. Kevin Princes chapter builds on two chapters in the previous edition and covers the overall design of marine shafting systems including their bearings and associated lubrication
