Research that explores and explains the differences in transnational orientation among immigrants. Owusu’s observations suggest that what is required are not only individual case studies of the experiences of other immigrant groups from Africa and elsewhere, but more importantly, comparative case studies of several recent immigrant groups. This strand of research could shed some light not only on the settlement experiences of immigrants in the United States and Canada, but the extent to which they can be expected to achieve socioeconomic mobility in, and integration into the new society. At the same time, it will immensely enhance our understanding of the diversity of immigrant experiences.
