This is the first detailed overview of Lukes Gospel from the beginning up to the present day. It is a careful , lively presentation which situates Lukan scholarship within the main trends of biblical interpretation. It is based on the conviction that such an overview is particularly valuable in our time of such a variety of approaches and, in particular, that much can easily be lost of the valuable heritage of Lukan scholarship. While each generation can build upon the last, new interpretations are only solidly possible when we build on the shoulders of those who have gone before us.
