Description
This is a translation from German of Rebmann’s novelization written in epistolary fashion. The hero of the novel blunders through life until he meets his mentor who comes across as the personification of the European Enlightenment. The pair travel from continent to continent where they find bad government and social strife the norm. The end of the travels take them to the new republic of the United States. Here they find a virtuous and egalitarian citizenship unknown to Europe, Africa or Asia. Rebmann lived from 1768 until 1824.
