This Study Companion is a comprehensive self-study guide for the requirements of the 2018 Saudi Soils and Foundations Code. It addresses requirements for foundation systems as they pertain to material properties of soils, and design and construction of foundation systems. It covers geotechnical investigations; excavation, grading and fill; presumptive load bearing of soils; spread footings; foundation walls; retaining walls; combined footings and mats. Design for expansive, collapsible and sabkha soils are included as well as other required considerations for vibratory loads, damp proofing/waterproofing and deep foundations are addressed. The Companions 14 study sessions provide practical learning assignments and contain specific learning objectives, applicable code text and commentary, and a list of questions summarizing key points for study. A quiz is provided at the end of each study session enabling users to test their knowledge of the material. An answer key indicates the correct response and reference for each of the 330+ total questions.
